THE PULSE CONTINUES!

pulse
As I mentioned on the "news" page we premiered new work in collaboration with Take Dance in December 2011.

We also welcomed a new member of pulse for this event: Melissa Dunphy

Melissa brings an outstanding compositional resume to our group and a unique sense of wit and humor that fit right in - welcome Melissa!

Our 2010 collaboration with Take Dance was a huge success; "Distance of the Moon" played to capacity crowds at Judson Memorial Church. on October 14 & 15 2010  The choreographer I worked with, Jill Echo, and I have come up a fun take on the concept called "Moonshine" - about the effects of a full moon on a group of people hanging out at a bar.

Here's a link to a video of the performance - you can see all the other outstanding pieces from my pulse colleagues too - enjoy!

To check out more about pulse: go to www.pulsecomposers.typepad.com
 you'll find our
pulse blog, mp3 clips and photos there as well bio on each pulse composer.

The pulse composers are: Darcy James Argue, Jamie Begian,
Melissa Dunphy,
JC Sanford
Joseph C. Phillips Jr. , and Joshua Shneider.

The pulse composers met at the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop in New York City. However, their goal for pulse was to create and perform music with a more expansive vision.

Collectively, the seven composers of pulse have been honored by BMI, ASCAP, SOCAN, the National Endowment of the Arts, the International Association for Jazz Education, Down Beat magazine, Meet the Composer, and the American Composers Forum.

Their music has been performed at concert halls, music clubs, universities, and conservatories by orchestras and ensembles throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

pulse continues to be truly dedicated to providing a limitless outlet for the very creative minds of the composers and those who wish to work with us.
